North Fort Myers Woman accused of fleeing from state troopers, selling the car days later

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. —

A North Fort Myers woman is accused of fleeing from Florida Highway Patrol troopers and selling the car she used a few days later.

According to the FHP, troopers attempted a traffic stop on a car driven by Elizabeth Howard, 33, near State Road 78 and Slater Road on Oct. 18, 2025.

The FHP said Howard fled the scene, accelerated to a high speed and ran a red light.

Howard then sold the car used in the incident a few days later, the FHP said.

On Jan. 20, Howard was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff's Office on unrelated charges.

FHP troopers responded to the arrest on Jan. 20 and charged Howard with fleeing, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving, along with an additional speeding charge under Florida's "Super Speeder" law.
