Deputies search home with guns drawn in Pine Manor standoff, neighbors say

PINE MANOR, Fla. —

Neighbors say they heard Lee County deputies say they were executing a search warrant as they saw guns drawn in the Pine Manor community Tuesday afternoon, causing concern among residents near Maple Drive and 11th Avenue.

Kristin Milburn, a neighbor, expressed concern for children who were being dropped off at a nearby bus stop during what she and other neighbors said was a six-hour standoff.

The deputies announced their presence, saying in a video filmed by Milburn, "The sheriff's office with a search warrant! Anyone inside the home, make yourself known!"

Milburn, a resident of Pine Manor, described the scene as "definitely scary to see so close to home." She observed around 30 deputies serving the search warrant and recounted, "They warned the resident inside the property, that they would be coming in. He didn't answer, and they broke the door down, went in after him, and we made sure that we got down low. And I got my daughter behind a vehicle safely."

Gemma Milburn, the daughter, described the neighborhood as usually calm, where the only sounds are children playing.

Milburn, who lives nearby and often sees her daughter riding her bike in the area, added, "You never know what's going to come at you on the other side of that door. They have shields. I didn't, so we had to be safe."

"It is concerning to have it so close to home, especially when they can't tell you what's going on and you don't know if you're safe at that point or not," Milburn said.

Deputies say it is an ongoing investigation.
