Michigan State alum Brooke Biermann eyes pro golf career from Naples

NAPLES, Fla. - A recent Michigan State graduate is on the brink of her professional golf career, and she's doing it from right here in Southwest Florida.

Brooke Biermann has moved to Naples as she preps for her final amateur event before turning pro.

"I think that I always realized that I wanted to try to go pro, but you can want something or you can be prepared and ready to do it," said Biermann.

After a runner-up finish at the U.S. Women’s Amateur at Bandon Dunes, Biermann's ranking secured her a spot in one of the most prestigious events in women’s golf.

"I got into the Augusta National Women's Amateur this April. So I'll be competing there," said Biermann. "That will be my last amateur event and then turn pro and play a full schedule on the Epson tour."

When the invitation to Augusta arrived, Biermann was overwhelmed with excitement.

"I got an email saying your FedEx package is on the way from Augusta National. I was freaking out," said Biermann. "Then I opened the package up a couple days ago. It's just surreal because it's such a limited field."

As she prepares for the biggest transition of her career, Biermann now calls Naples home. However, regardless of where she plays, one constant has been with her from the start.

"My dad has probably missed three tournaments in my entire career, and he's there to support me and back me through it all," said Biermann.

Her father has also served as her caddy.

"He's told me for years that he believes in me, even when I didn't believe in myself," said Biermann. "To have someone like that and to see the pathway that I might not even see yet. He sees it."

Looking ahead to her professional life, Biermann reflects on the broader lessons she’s learned from golf.

"Golf is like life in a lot of ways," said Biermann. "It doesn't go how you want it to go a lot of times, but how you pick yourself back up and prepare for the next golf shot or the next event or whatever comes next."

Brooke Biermann is set to step into the professional golf arena, supported by her family and lessons learned on the course.
