1 injured after destructive house fire in East Naples

EAST NAPLES, Fla. —

One person was injured after a house fire in East Naples early Thursday morning.

Crews were called to a home on Palm Street shortly after 1 a.m. in response to a structure fire, and upon arrival, saw the house up in flames.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire, but one person, who did not live in the home but in a separate unit behind the home, sustained injuries while trying to put the fire out, according to the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District crews on the scene.

The person was transported to the hospital, but is expected to recover.

The preliminary cause of the fire is believed to be an e-bike charger, pending further investigation, GNFRD said. Occupants inside the house heard the e-bike charger explode.

GNFRD said that the house is a total loss, and the Red Cross will be helping the family. No other injuries to people or pets were reported.
