Fire in Collier County; man found dead outside home

One man is dead in Collier County after he was found in the woods outside of a home that had caught on fire.

The man had reportedly threatened to harm himself, according to the Collier County Sheriff's Office.

CCSO received a call from the man early Friday morning, expressing his intentions.

Shortly after the call, a neighbor witnessed the house engulfed in flames.

Upon arrival, authorities found the house on fire and the man's body in the backyard.

According to the sheriff's office the man died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. CCSO continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
