Gas leak secured on Hancock Bridge Parkway after forcing evacuations

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. —

Authorities responded to a gas leak near businesses on Hancock Bridge Parkway near Orange Grove Boulevard in North Fort Myers Friday afternoon.

According to the North Fort Myers Fire Control District, the gas leak is secured. All businesses in the area were evacuated, but there are no injuries and people are safely entering the businesses again.

Tampa Electric Company (TECO) is at the scene wrapping up its response.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office also responded for safety reasons, the fire district said.
