Senators probe defense contracts given to company with ties to Donald Trump Jr.

Three Democratic senators are demanding answers from the Department of Defense.

The senators say they are looking into contracts given to 1789, a venture capital firm tied to Donald Trump Jr., the president's son.

Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Andy Kim and Richard Blumenthal sent a letter to the department asking if there were any conflicts of interest when the contracts were assigned.

They are not claiming Trump Jr. broke any laws; rather, the company itself has received several lucrative deals since President Donald Trump took office for his second term.

Trump Jr. said his role in 1789 is passive and he has no firm involvement with the venture capital firm.
