Man accused of intentionally setting brush fires in Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

Lee County deputies arrested a man Friday after he was accused of setting several small brush fires in the area of Old Gladiolus Drive.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to reports of brush fires in the area of Old Gladiolus Drive shortly after 1 p.m.

Deputies quickly identified a man near the fire's point of origin and saw him light more fires while moving through an open field. The man then fled the area, the LCSO said.

K-9 units were utilized and tracked the man, identified as Brian Dry, 47, to a Speedway on U.S. 41. Deputies found Dry inside the gas station, standing in front of a shelf of gas cans, the LCSO said.

The LCSO said Dry was carrying a lighter and missing one shoe, which was found a few feet away from the area of the fires.

Dry was arrested and faces a charge of intentional burning of land.
