Phase 2 of Corkscrew Road Widening Project continues, expect delays

ESTERO, Fla. —

Crews are one step closer to completing the Corkscrew Road Widening Project in Lee County.

From Monday, Jan. 26, to Wednesday, Jan. 28, crews will be paving the new roadway on the south side of Corkscrew Road. This is part of phase 2 of the project.

The goal of this project is to make more room for drivers by widening the road to four lanes from Bella Terra Boulevard to Alico Road.

There will also be bike lanes and sidewalks for people to walk and bike.

Trucks and heavy equipment will be moving in and out of the work zone as crews also work on sewer pipes and improving utilities.

There will be flaggers on the road to direct drivers through the work area.

Work will be underway from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Corkscrew Road Widening Project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
