2 men accused of public urination in downtown Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

Two men were arrested on Sunday after being accused of public intoxication and public urination.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, officers responded to a scene in downtown Fort Myers where two men were being verbally abusive to another officer already at the scene.

Tanner Berns, 23, and Chandler Jones, 25, were being verbal with the officer after trespassing at Downtown House of Pizza, FMPD said.

FMPD said Berns and Jones were clearly intoxicated, as they had slurred speech, were stumbling and had glassy eyes.

FMPD said Berns and Jones were attempting to agitate officers by using profanity and yelling, demanding a supervisor, and Jones asked an officer if he wanted to fight.

Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation. Berns and Jones continued to enter the roadway, endangering themselves, which officers tried to prevent, FMPD said.

Eventually, officers were able to send the two men away, but they were caught shortly afterwards urinating in a corner next to 39 Patio de Leon.

Berns and Jones were arrested, and both face charges of public urination and disorderly intoxication.
