Authorities respond to possible drowning involving child in Rotonda West

ROTONDA WEST, Fla. —

Authorities responded to a report of a possible drowning involving a young child in Rotonda West Monday.

According to Charlotte County Public Safety, Charlotte County Fire & EMS was dispatched to a residence on Oakland Hills Court at 4:54 p.m. for a report of a possible drowning.

Crews arrived and began life-saving measures, including CPR, according to CCPS. Aeromed, an air medical transport helicopter, was requested due to the child's condition, but the patient was transported by ground as a trauma alert to the hospital, and the flight crew accompanied the child, according to CCPS.

The Englewood Fire Department also responded and assisted on scene, including support with landing zone operations, CCPS said.

The current condition of the child is unknown at this time, CCPS said.
