Bonita Springs trio accused of importing and selling pain pills

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. —

Three Bonita Springs men were arrested on Friday after being accused of drug trafficking.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, narcotics detectives worked with federal partners to track down thousands of pain pills that were being shipped from Guatemala to Lee County.

With assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration Miami, it was learned that a package containing 2,000 Tramadol pills was being delivered to a home in the 2700 block of Dortch Avenue in Bonita Springs, LCSO said.

The package was picked up by Gabriel Aguilar, LCSO said.

Following the delivery of the package, detectives executed a search warrant on the home, where they found thousands of additional pills from previous deliveries. Inside the home, detectives also located Juan Gomez and Gabriel Sombrano, according to LCSO.

All three men were arrested. Aguilar faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. Sombrano faces a charge of obstruction without violence.

With assistance from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, deputies found that all three men are in the United States illegally. Deputies also discovered that Sombrano has been deported twice in the past.
