Lehigh Acres man convicted of criminal solicitation after plotting murder of a deputy

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

A Lehigh Acres man was convicted of criminal solicitation and two counts of tampering with a witness on Monday.

According to the State Attorney's Office, Zachary Clayton Human was convicted on the charges after a two-day trial in Lee County.

In 2024, Human was arrested for selling drugs. He looked through the documents in his case and then asked a witness to kill a detective and a confidential informant, the State Attorney's Office said.

Human wanted the detective shot and killed and wanted the confidential informant to be given an overdose of drugs. The witness contacted the Lee County Sheriff's Office about the plot, the State Attorney's Office said.

Deputies found Human in Cape Coral, driving on a suspended license, and arrested him.

Human is scheduled to be sentenced on March 2.
