North Fort Myers man accused of threatening neighbor with knife

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. —

A North Fort Myers man was arrested on Sunday after being accused of threatening his neighbor with a knife.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a home in North Fort Myers at around 11:06 a.m.

After arriving at the scene, the deputies spoke to the victim, who said he had parked his vehicle in the road so he could pull his Jet Ski watercraft from the backyard to the driveway so he could tow them with his vehicle, LCSO said.

The victim then said that his neighbor, identified as Jamie John Howell, 62, was taking pictures of the victim's vehicle from his own front yard, according to LCSO.

The two men began to argue, with the victim still standing in the road. Howell then escalated the argument by brandishing a knife and charging at the victim, threatening him, LCSO said.

The victim showed deputies a video of the incident, which depicted Howell brandishing the knife and walking toward the victim, making threats, including making a reference to Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law, LCSO said.

Howell was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
