Gigi’s Ice Cream brings new flavors and fresh additions to Punta Gorda

Now, the local favorite is serving up more than just scoops with new menu additions that turn a dessert run into an all day stop.

Gigi’s is known for its ice cream, gelato, and sorbets made completely from scratch. Every batch is crafted using real milk, cream, cane sugar, and fresh fruit, giving each flavor a rich and refreshing taste. Owner Gigi Mishkin said she wanted to raise the bar for frozen treats in Punta Gorda.

“When we tried ice cream here, we thought it was fine,” Mishkin said. “But we realized we could make something even better.”

After two years in business, the shop is growing its menu. Customers can now buy Gigi’s baked goods on their own, including pies, cakes, and cookies. Craving something cold but not dessert? Gigi’s now offers acai bowls, along with a brand-new lunch menu featuring pulled pork sandwiches, lobster rolls, hot dogs, and more.

That idea turned into a shop full of rotating flavors made by Ryan Mishkin, who taught himself how to make ice cream and gelato through YouTube videos.

“When I started, I had no idea what I was doing,” Mishkin said. “I had to learn everything online.”

One thing that sets Gigi’s apart is what goes into the ice cream. Many flavors are packed with baked goods like pies, cakes, and cookies, all made in house by Gigi Mishkin herself.

“Some places just throw pre made treats into their ice cream,” she said. “I wanted ours to be truly homemade from start to finish.”

The shop has weathered more than just Florida heat. Hurricanes Milton and Helene caused damage, but the team kept scooping.

“When everything was a mess, all we could do was clean up and keep going,” Ryan Mishkin said.

For Gigi Mishkin, the shop is about more than just ice cream. It is about community and sticking together through tough times.

“We’re not going anywhere,” she said. “It’s only been two years, and we can’t wait to be here for a long time.”
