Fatal crash on US-41 in Naples claims 68-year-old pedestrian

NAPLES, Fla.—The Collier County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol responded to a deadly crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on U.S. 41 and Bayshore Drive.

Law enforcement responded to the crash at around 9:05 p.m. on Wednesday, where both directions at the intersection with Bayshore Drive were closed while working the scene.

According to FHP, a 36-year-old man from Naples was traveling south on U.S. 41, in the area of Bayshore Drive. As the vehicle was approaching the intersection, a 68-year-old man from Naples was attempting to cross the southbound travel lanes of U.S. 41.

The vehicle collided with the 68-year-old man, causing critical injuries. He was transported to an area hospital and later sucumbed to his injuries.

Law enforcement say this crash remains under investigation.
