Student accused of bringing knife, drugs to Beacon High School in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —

A Beacon High School student was arrested Thursday after they were accused of bringing a knife and drugs to school.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, an 18-year-old student came to school and smelled of marijuana. School administrators searched the student and allegedly found a THC vape cartridge.

Deputies said administrators then searched the student's vehicle on campus, and they found a push-button knife with a 3.25-inch blade in the glove box as well as another vape in the center console.

No threat was made, according to the sheriff's office, and they believe there was no danger to the school.

Deputies said the student is facing charges of possession of a weapon on school grounds and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
