Fort Myers couple celebrates 75 years of marriage

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

Most of us have heard the saying, "love at first sight."

Jim Cox wasn't a believer until the moment he met his wife, Stella.

"Her dark brown eyes hypnotized me," said Jim.
"He was stylish," said Stella. "He was cute. He had a curl on his forehead, you know."

Three years later, the two got hitched.

"I thought, I better propose to her before somebody else does, and then I'll regret it the rest of my life," said Jim.

Over the years, Jim has learned how to keep Stella's interest.

"I never leave dirty laundry on the floor, oh, that is a no-no," said Jim.

As any married couple will tell you, it hasn't always been easy.

"There's been a lot of times each of us bite our tongue," said Jim.

But after a life of 75 years together, they share five kids, seven grandkids, and have an eighth great-grandchild on the way.

"It's been a great ride, and I wouldn't do anything different," said Jim.

"He's a wonderful man I've committed my life to," said Stella.
