Marco Island residents voice quality of life issues at WINK Listens

MARCO ISLAND, Fla.—The Marco Island Center for the Arts opened its doors early, welcoming the community to share their thoughts and concerns. 

Residents from across the island gathered to discuss everything from quality of life to noise complaints and the future of their community.

"I felt very heard," said Rivka Mascoop, a Marco Island resident.

Mascoop was surprised by the comfort and ease of the conversation.

"I was, like, presently surprised at everybody’s friendliness and approachability and how much everybody cared," said Mascoop. "It just felt so natural, like you know, you guys are part of Marco Island."

Anthony Figuerelli, a visitor to the event, remarked on its uniqueness.

"I don’t know of any other news stations that do it," said Figuerelli.

Younger voices also made themselves heard.

"Just want to thank WINK News for coming out and listening to my students," said Keith Scalia, a teacher in Marco Island.
