Pickup truck involved in DeSoto County hit-and-run found, search for driver continues

DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. —

The pickup truck believed to be involved in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist in DeSoto County has been found.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers located a Ford F-150 pickup truck at the DeSoto Motel on Thursday. The truck is the suspected vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that took place on Jan. 21.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Southeast Airport Road and Southeast Airport Estates Street. FHP said the truck made a left turn directly in front of the approaching motorcycle.

The motorcycle crashed into the truck, and the truck fled the scene, according to FHP.

The pickup truck was impounded, and a forensic examination will be conducted, FHP said. The search for the driver is ongoing.
