Teen brothers accused of armed robbery in LaBelle

LABELLE, Fla. —

Two teenage brothers were arrested after they were accused of stealing a gun and $450 while pointing a gun at a victim in Hendry County.

According to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office, a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old were arrested on Jan. 23 after deputies conducted a search warrant at a residence on Littlefield Road in LaBelle.

HCSO said that in the evening hours of Jan. 22, it received information from the Lee County Sheriff's Office regarding an armed robbery. The victim of the robbery was sent to HCSO to file an official report.

HCSO learned that the victim had made arrangements to purchase a firearm from a person, later identified as the 17-year-old juvenile, Daniel Martinez. An agreement was made between the two to meet at a home in LaBelle, HCSO said.

Once the victim arrived at the home, Daniel and his brother, Darion Martinez, exited a residence and began to approach the vehicle. The victim remained in the vehicle as Daniel approached and opened the passenger side door, pointing a gun at the victim's head, HCSO said.

Daniel then reached under the victim's leg and stole a firearm that the victim was concealing and $450 in cash. Both of the suspects then ran from the scene, according to HCSO.

Deputies later located the two brothers and arrested them.

They face charges of armed robbery, armed burglary to a conveyance, grand theft of a firearm, use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, carrying a concealed weapon, kidnapping to facilitate a felony, possession of a weapon by a Florida delinquent, which is an adult felony.
