Aubrey Rogers High School student arrested, accused of making threats on social media

NORTH NAPLES, Fla. —

A 16-year-old Aubrey Rogers High School student was arrested after being accused of making threats of violence against the school on social media.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, the student made written threats of violence; however, an investigation determined that there was no credible threat to the school.

The CCSO said it is increasing its presence at the school Monday out of an abundance of caution.

The student faces a charge of written threats to kill or do bodily injury or conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism, which is a second-degree felony.

The CCSO reminded residents that school safety is a top priority, and anyone who sees something of concern should report it by calling 911 or the office's nonemergency number at 239-252-9300.
