Aubrey Rogers student arrested after alleged threat of violence on social media

An Aubrey Rogers High School student was arrested following alleged threats of violence on social media. 

According to an email sent to parents Monday morning, the student was arrested after an investigation by the Collier County Sheriff's Office. Detectives ultimately determined that there was no actual threat to the school.

The statement reads:

An Aubrey Rogers High student has been arrested after an investigation by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office determined the student made a threat of violence to the school over social media. Detectives have determined that there was no actual threat to the school.

Keeping our school safe is our number one priority. This requires all students and parents to stay vigilant and make sure if they see or hear something, they say something. Please talk to your child about the serious consequences that may result from making a threat — verbal, written, or an image — against another student or a school.  Remind your child, that if they see something of concern to report it immediately to an adult and not to spread it, including reposting or sharing on social media.
