Burglary at Lee County food truck leaves owner fearful

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

A man allegedly broke into the Sabor de Mi Rancho food truck early Saturday morning, stealing cash and leaving the owner fearful for his safety.

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. at the food truck parked next to the Mobil gas station off Palm Beach Boulevard near I-75.

Security camera footage shows the man breaking the driver's side front door window and rummaging through cabinets before finding a wallet and taking the cash inside. The videos showing the situation happened over the span of five minutes.

Gulf Coast News spoke to the owner of Sabor de Mi Rancho. We are not showing his face or sharing his name because he fears for his safety.

"They broke in there, and that’s why we’re afraid of seeing people stealing," said the owner.

He expressed his concern about the intentions of the burglar, saying, "Honestly, it gave us chills because we don’t know what they intend to do."

The Lee County Sheriff's Office incident report says the damage to the window is estimated to be $200. The owner says the repair is estimated to cost $500.

Despite the scare, the Guatemalan food truck remains open for business. He shared his distress over the situation, stating, "It’s hard to see this. I’ve always heard that they break in, that they break windows or glass at businesses. But we had never gone through a situation like this until now."
