Cape Coral man who threatened to assassinate President Trump sentenced to 27 months in prison

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

A Cape Coral man has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump.

According to a release from the office of United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe, Christopher Davies, 32, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sheri P. Chappell to serve 27 months in federal prison for a threat made to assassinate Trump.

Davies pleaded guilty on Oct. 29, 2025, as part of a plea deal.

Court documents state that Davies wrote a letter to an official at the Charlotte Correctional Institution stating that he had "orchestrated the most daring Presidential assassination that this country has ever seen."

Davies also stated that he believed "Donald Trump must perish," court documents say.

When questioned by an agent from the U.S. Secret Service, Davies admitted to writing the letter and affirmed that he wanted to kill Trump.

When asked hypothetically what he would do if Trump were near him, Davies said he would attempt to kill the president with his bare hands, the release said.

Davies was arrested in May 2025.
