Fire breaks out at Fort Myers apartment building Tuesday

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

A fire broke out at an apartment building on Golfview Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Fort Myers Fire Department, crews responded to an active fire at a Fort Myers apartment building just after 11 a.m.

Crews arrived and saw heavy smoke and determined it was a working fire. Crews began to aggressively attack the fire and had water on the fire in about five minutes, the FMFD said.

The FMFD said one person was treated for smoke inhalation. The fire was declared out at 11:22 a.m., according to the FMFD.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
