Port Charlotte church hosts Caribbean festival to fund new organ

The flavors, music, and culture of the Caribbean are coming to Port Charlotte.

Saint James Episcopal Church is hosting a Caribbean festival on Saturday, Feb. 7, from noon to 5 p.m.

This event will feature authentic Caribbean food like jerk chicken and curry goat, all prepared by island grandmothers. Attendees can also enjoy the sounds of steel drums and reggae dancing.

"We’re going to have a good time today at the Caribbean festival," said one of the church members. "We’re going to have steel band music and reggae dancing and all that good food, that good stuff."

The festival aims to raise funds for a new organ for the church. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased here.

"We are looking forward to everyone that is coming to enjoy this Caribbean festival and have a good time with us," said the church member.

Saint James Episcopal Church is located at 1365 Viscaya Drive in Port Charlotte.
