Bonita Springs City Council to discuss adding Tesla Superchargers downtown

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. —

Bonita Springs city leaders are set to discuss the potential installation of Tesla Superchargers in the downtown area, a move that could bring the city its first publicly accessible fast-charging electric vehicle stations.

Currently, there are no public fast-charging EV stations within Bonita Springs city limits. That means residents and visitors who drive electric vehicles must travel to the closest options located along Immokalee Road or at the Miramar Outlets.

At a City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday evening, Council Member Lauren Carr will lead the discussion, asking council members to consider the benefits of adding Tesla Superchargers downtown and to provide direction to city staff to evaluate the feasibility of the idea.

The goal is to serve the growing number of EV drivers who live, work, and travel in Bonita Springs, and generate additional economic activity for nearby restaurants, shops, and businesses.

City Council is expected to discuss the proposal during its meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
