21-year-old Lemuel Teal Middle employee accused of touching teenager

A 21-year-old employee at Lemuel Teal Middle School is currently in jail after being accused of inappropriately touching a teenager.

The authorities reported that Jonathan Borges engaged in inappropriate contact with a 13-year-old student on Tuesday.

In a statement, the Lee County School District confirmed their immediate response to the allegation.

"School staff and the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded immediately when the allegation was reported and took appropriate action," the district said.

They added that Borges will be suspended pending the outcome of an investigation.

"The employee will be suspended pending the outcome of an investigation. Notification of the arrest was sent in accordance with Florida law," the district continued in the statement.

Borges is scheduled for his next court appearance on March 9.
