Dog the Bounty Hunter's stepson appears in Collier County court after son's death

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —

The man accused of shooting and killing his 13-year-old son last July made his first appearance in Collier County court Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect, Gregory Anthony Zecca, 39, is the stepson of reality television star "Dog the Bounty Hunter."

The judge did not give Zecca bond a day after it was announced he would face charges, including manslaughter.

Collier County deputies say Zecca is accused of shooting and killing his 13-year-old son in July of 2025. It happened at The Crest at Naples apartments last July.

Reports say Zecca and his son were visiting a friend. Blood tests accuse Zecca of being drunk and using marijuana that night.

Deputies say Zecca was practicing drawing an unloaded gun from his waistband while his son was in the room. At some point, the gun was reloaded and Zecca is accused of pulling the trigger. That bullet hit and killed his son, the sheriff's office said.

In the report, the victim's mother described Zecca as reckless and overly confident with handling and storing guns. The report also mentions a 2020 incident where Zecca shot and killed a family dog after it reportedly chased a neighbor's horse.
