FORT MYERS - Detectives are seeking your help to uncover the circumstances surrounding a woman's death.
Crime Stoppers reports that 28-year-old Julia Curvo, who went missing two weeks ago, was found dead on Friday.
Julia's father, Mark Curvo, shared that their family is heartbroken. He mentioned that Julia frequently visited Fowler Street, the downtown Fort Myers area and nearby neighborhoods. Since her passing, he hopes someone will come forward with information.
On Friday, Jan. 30, Mark received the devastating news that his daughter was gone. "We were told that someone had been found. We did not know that it was her, but we knew in our hearts that it was her, and it was immediately devastating, and my worst fears, I had been fearing that something like this could happen for years," said Mark.
Julia had been missing for 10 days. The Fort Myers Police Department said she was last seen near Fowler Street. Her grandmother, who lives in Naples, tried calling her for days but received no response. "My mother had already attempted to contact her multiple times, and was getting no response at all. Phone calls going to voice or directly to voicemail, text messages not appearing to go through," said Mark.
Julia was found just steps from where she was last seen. A memorial now sits beneath palm trees in her honor. Her family and Crime Stoppers are seeking answers about her disappearance and death.
Mark expressed his plea during a phone call on Wednesday, urging parents to empathize with his situation. "I asked you to please take a look at your own children and think of how you might feel should if this were to ever happen. And I pray to God that this never happens to anyone but that is what we're asking," he said. He added, "it felt like the worst thing that anyone could feel in their lifetime, realizing that you're you've lost a daughter, and I don't think that any parent should ever have to go through it."
