Lemuel Teal Middle School employee accused of inappropriate contact with 13-year-old student

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. —

An employee at Lemuel Teal Middle School in Lehigh Acres is accused of engaging in inappropriate activity with a student.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, the victim, a 13-year-old girl, reported having inappropriate contact with Jonathan Hernandez Borges, 21, to school staff on Tuesday.

Deputies conducted interviews and completed a criminal history check on Borges, which revealed no previous arrests or criminal history.

Borges, who worked as instructional support at the middle school, has been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation, according to Rob Spicker, Director of Communications for Lee County Schools.

Borges was arrested and faces a charge of lewd or lascivious battery.
