Monkeypox case confirmed in Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

Lee County has confirmed a case of monkeypox in a person aged 35 to 39, marking it as one of nine counties in Florida with cases this year.

Monkeypox is a rare disease that can be transmitted from animals to humans.

There are 32 cases so far, with South Florida having the most.
