Red Sox truck day at JetBlue Park excites Southwest Florida fans

Spring is approaching, and in Southwest Florida, that signals the start of spring training.

The Boston Red Sox equipment truck made its anticipated arrival at JetBlue Park on Thursday, marking an exciting day for fans. 

Crews immediately began unloading balls, bats, and merchandise.

The truck completed a 1,480-mile journey from Fenway Park, arriving around 6:30 a.m. Crews started unloading promptly at 7 a.m., bringing in all the essentials for the players, including suitcases, bicycles, and TVs.

Among the hustle and bustle, one dedicated fan, Charlie Bakst, stood out. Bakst has made it a tradition to attend Truck Day every year since the park opened.

"I went to my first Red Sox game I was eight years old," said Bakst. "I used to go with my father, and I used to take my daughter. And it's a way of life, so this is really just a lifelong journey for you. My dream was to come to spring training for a whole month, a whole month of March, and now we're here for several months."

Pitchers and catchers are expected to arrive next Tuesday, and the first spring training home game is scheduled for Feb. 22.
