FORT MYERS, Fla. — A night out turned into a large law enforcement response early Sunday morning after a shooting occurred outside HeadPinz in Fort Myers.
Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office and Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene on Global Parkway off Treeline Avenue, in front of HeadPinz and FastTrax. Video from the scene shows a heavy law enforcement presence and a portion of the parking lot taped off during the investigation.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office has now confirmed that a shooting took place in the parking lot of a nearby business. Sheriff Carmine Marceno said no injuries were reported.
"I thank God no one was injured during this careless act of violence while families were present," Marceno said in a statement. "Let it be known that we are fully committed to identifying those responsible and holding them accountable."
According to LCSO, 5th Precinct deputies have increased patrols in the area, and additional sheriff's office resources are being deployed nearby. The Violent Crimes Unit is actively interviewing witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and continuing the investigation.
In an earlier statement, HeadPinz and FastTrax reassured the community that no guests or staff were injured and thanked employees and law enforcement for their response.
