3 arrested in connection to shooting near Headpinz in Lee County

Following a shooting near Headpinz in Lee County, three people have been arrested in connection to the incident.

The updates were provided in a Lee County Sheriff's Office news conference Tuesday morning.

Early Sunday morning, LCSO received reports of gunfire and immediately responded to the scene in the parking lot of Headpinz in Lee County.

One innocent victim was a woman who was leaving her job and walking to her car, almost got caught in the crossfire. Her passenger window shattered. The bullet came to rest on her dashboard and barely missed her head. It was a nearly deadly incident, but she was not hurt.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno said that this stemmed from a "beef" from the two parties. Marceno said that this wasn't accidental.

"This was reckless criminal behavior," he said.

Following the investigation, deputies arrested 19-year-old Javien Perez and 18-year-old Brian Cortes-Esquivel, who are allegedly the shooters. 

While serving a search warrant at a home in Bonita springs they located 3 firearms. Two were reported to be stolen firearms, to which they say belonged to Adrian Ruiz, who was charged with accessory after the fact. Marceno said he was a passenger of one of the vehicles.

All of those arrested have a criminal history. Marceno stated that the sheriff's office is continuing the search for more suspects.
