The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is warning the public about fraudulent posts circulating across Facebook about fallen deputy Christopher Taylor.
CCSO said a series of Facebook pages are posting Taylor's sheriff's office ID photo, claiming that he was killed over the weekend while volunteering for the Super Bowl. Some of the posts also included his photo with an NFL team.
Links on several of the posts claimed that you could read the full story by clicking. CCSO advised people not to click on those links and report the posts as false information.
Taylor was struck and killed by a drunk driver, identified as Cassandra Smith, along I-75 in November 2022. Smith was sentenced to 29 years in prison for Taylor's death.
