Lehigh Acres man receives 5 years in prison for possessing child sex abuse material

LEE COUNTY, Fla. —

A Lehigh Acres man was sentenced Monday to five years in federal prison for possessing and accessing with intent to view images and videos depicting child sexual abuse, as well as a life term of supervised release and registering as a sex offender.

According to United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe of the Middle District of Florida, Leon Mark Jewett, 70, possessed and accessed with intent to view child sex abuse material from that he searched for and downloaded online from April through December 2024.

Court documents outline that in December 2024, Jewett brought his laptops to a store for repairs in Port Charlotte. The store technician saw child sex abuse material on one of the laptops, and law enforcement was contacted.

With a search warrant, the Federal Bureau of Investigation seized and conducted forensic analysis on two of Jewett's laptops and they revealed sexual abuse material of children.

Jewett pled guilty on Oct. 6, 2025. The case was investigated by the FBI and the Fort Myers Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, including the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
