2 sentenced to 15 years in prison in separate Charlotte County drug-related cases

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. —

Two people were each sentenced to 15 years in prison, followed by 15 years of probation in separate drug cases in Charlotte County.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, Scott Kyle Wright, 40, was convicted on Feb. 4 for his involvement in a drug overdose where fentanyl was distributed to a victim and caused death.

Wright was indicted on manslaughter and manufacturing Schedule 1 or 2 opium or derivative. He was sentenced to 15 years in state prison followed by 15 years of probation as a drug offender, deputies said.

Additionally, Kimberley Diggins, 42, was adjudicated guilty on Tuesday after she pleaded no contest in court. CCSO said Diggins was convicted of trafficking in fentanyl four grams or more, possession of cocaine, possession or use of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance with intent. These all stemmed from a warrant at her home in February 2022.

With the warrant, detectives said they located almost 50 grams of fentanyl. Diggins was sentenced to 15 years in state prison, followed by 15 years of probation and $100,000 in fines.
