Cape Coral leaders consider easing storage container rules

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

Cape Coral's Committee of the Whole discusses potential changes to the city's rules on storage containers for businesses and organizations.

Under current regulations, businesses are allowed to use storage containers for up to 30 days at a time and may have no more than two containers within a single year.

City leaders are now considering whether to revise those restrictions. One proposal on the table would allow businesses to keep storage containers on-site for as long as needed.

In addition to extending time limits, officials are also expected to discuss guidelines surrounding where containers can be placed and how they look, including possible aesthetic standards.

Wednesday's meeting is strictly a discussion, and no final decisions are expected at this time.
