'Dawson's Creek' actor James Van Der Beek dead at 48

WINK—Actor James David Van Der Beek, famous for his role on the television show “Dawson’s Creek,” has passed away at age 48.

According to Van Der Beek’s official Facebook account, the actor passed peacefully on Wednesday morning.

Van Der Beek was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer, which he revealed publicly in 2024.

The post stated, “There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time.  Those days will come.  For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”
