Fort Myers man faces 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing a gun as a felon

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

A Fort Myers man has pleaded guilty to an indictment charging him with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

According to a press release from the Department of Justice, Walter James Marhsall, 31, faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison.

According to court documents, Marshall was pulled over by the Fort Myers Police Department on June 12, 2025, for driving with a suspended license.

When officers searched his vehicle, they found a loaded pistol under the driver's seat, and DNA testing connected the pistol to Marshall, who is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition due to his status as a convicted felon.

A sentencing date has not yet been set.
