Jacksonville woman wrongly identified in viral Fort Myers racist rant video

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —

A Jacksonville woman says she is facing threats and harassment after being wrongly identified as the person in a viral video from Fort Myers.

The video, which shows a woman going on a racist rant in a parking lot at the corner of U.S. 41 and Cypress Lake Drive, garnered significant attention on social media, sparking outrage over the comments made in the video.

As the video spread across social media, online users began searching for the woman involved.

The name Lisa Hanson started circulating, but the woman with that name says she had nothing to do with it.

Hanson, who lives in Jacksonville, said her Facebook page was flooded with hateful messages, and people even showed up at her workplace and church demanding answers.

Maria Mejia, who originally captured the video of the Fort Myers incident, expressed remorse about the unintended consequences.
