Nick Toma is on a mission to bridge the gap between citizens and lawmakers with his new platform, "We the Peoples Vote."
This civic-minded social media tool allows users to anonymously vote on hot-button topics such as gun control, property taxes, and headline news. He shared his idea and platform at our Port Charlotte WINK Listens.
"It's a platform, really, that is allows people to vote on these things anonymously," said Toma.
Toma hopes that by encouraging more people to weigh in on issues, lawmakers will begin to utilize the platform to better understand public opinion.
"I feel like it would put more pressure on the lawmaker, the people who are, you know, supposedly elected to represent us, that they will actually have to represent us," said Toma.
The site isn't solely focused on politics. It includes lighter topics like social media, sports, and entertainment, aiming to engage a broader audience.
"That's what I'm trying to represent here, is, let's get the will of the people out there and say, Hey, listen, you know, we're for this, or we're not for this," said Toma.
