NASA's Crew-12 rocket launch from Florida: Date, time, how to watch

Four astronauts are expected to blast off from Florida's Space Coast on a flight to the International Space Station on Friday.

Crew-12 will replace four crew members who cut their mission short due to a medical issue.

SpaceX and NASA will launch Crew-12 to the ISS at 5:15 a.m. from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

About the mission

The four crew members will conduct research, technology demonstrations and maintenance on board the laboratory.

Crew-12 will run experiments during their eight-month mission for future moon and Mars missions.

According to NASA, research includes studies on pneumonia treatment, on-demand intravenous fluid generation, automated plant monitoring, nitrogen-fixing microbe interactions for space food production and blood flow effects during spaceflight.

About the astronauts

The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft will carry NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev to the orbiting laboratory for a science mission, according to NASA.

Previous delays

The launch was initially scheduled for Wednesday but was pushed back due to forecast weather conditions along the Dragon spacecraft's flight path.

The mission was then scheduled for no earlier than 5:38 a.m. Thursday, but was delayed again.
