Ring camera's new AI feature sparks privacy concerns

Ring's new feature, showcased during the Super Bowl, aims to help find lost dogs using artificial intelligence and neighborhood Ring cameras, but it is making some people uneasy about privacy.

The feature allows anyone to submit a photo of a missing dog on their Ring app, and the company's AI scans nearby outdoor cameras for a match. If it thinks it has found the dog, the owner of that Ring camera is notified and can choose to share the video.

Many Ring users are concerned about what this technology could evolve into, which is contributing to their unease.

Ring already has a feature called "familiar faces" that can scan and recognize people at your door. The company said the AI is built with privacy in mind, but acknowledged the risks associated with new technology, noting, "There's always a risk it could be leaked."
