Cape Coral's 'Bike Night' returns with new layout

CAPE CORAL, Fla. —

Bike night was back Saturday night in southeast Cape Coral with a new layout, as the city called for motorcycles to be stationed in a lot on Southeast 47th Terrace instead of driving through the pathways, aiming to improve pedestrian safety and emergency vehicle access.

Though bike lovers were excited to see the event return, not everyone is pleased with the new layout.

Tom Lento Punch from Lucky 7 Custom Cycles said, "We're not getting used to it. This is a little better with the parking. People can visualize and see everything as they walk around. When you stick us in the back of a parking lot with cars that are not supposed to be there, it's just not right."

Sandy Kidd from Cape Coral shared her views, too.

"I'm used to the bikes being on the street. You have to make an intentional point to get over to this area. I'm sure it has its good benefits, but at the same time, you know, it's not bad having it all here together," Kidd said.

Bike night will return to southeast Cape Coral on April 11.
