COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — A small plane was reported in the water near Port of the Islands on Tuesday afternoon, and emergency crews responded to the scene, authorities said.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office said it received a call at 12:49 p.m. from someone who saw a plane in the water but did not witness a crash.
The agency's marine unit responded and located one person. The individual's condition was not immediately known. Fire rescue crews and emergency medical services were also on scene.
An aviation unit was searching the surrounding area for additional people in the water, authorities said.
The situation remains active, and no additional information is immediately available.
