1 dead, 2 seriously injured after 3-vehicle crash on I-75 in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —

One person died and two were seriously injured in a multivehicle crash on I-75 in Collier County on Sunday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the scene of a three-vehicle crash at mile marker 70 at around 7:17 p.m.

FHP said that a Buick sedan, driven by a 66-year-old Naples woman, was traveling west on I-75 in the outside lane. A Kia, being driven by a 60-year-old Lehigh Acres man with a 60-year-old female passenger, was traveling in the outside lane ahead of the Buick.

A Toyota SUV, driven by a 52-year-old Miami man with a 14-year-old passenger, was traveling east on I-75 in the inside lane.

FHP said that the front of the Buick crashed into the back of the Kia and the guardrail. The Buick then crossed the median, entered the eastbound lane and crashed into the Toyota, FHP said.

The crash caused the Toyota to overturn, injuring the two passengers, who were transported to a hospital, according to FHP.

The driver of the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.
