Collier County family displaced after house fire

A fire caused a Collier County home to be unlivable after flames tore through it early Monday morning.

The home, located on 18th Place Southwest off of Sunset Road in the Golden Gate community, was the site of a kitchen fire that prompted a swift evacuation.

Everyone inside made it out safely, and no injuries were reported.

Damage was confined to the kitchen and a small portion of the attic, according to Greater Naples Fire.

The house is currently unlivable, and the family is connecting with the Red Cross for assistance. Investigators have already been on the scene and have determined nothing suspicious about the fire.

WINK News reporter Brinkley Hill was at the scene, and spoke with the displaced family.

Family member Louie Valliere said, "I saw smoke. I was like, what's going on? I open the second one and then smoke just hits me. My sister's across the room, like across the house. So I'm yelling at her name. I'm like, get out the house. Get out. So she gets out. I get out. I'm just happy everybody's out now."
